Harrison Lee Assessment of Previous Students Work

1. ZOMBIE
Comments:
1. The film contains strong elements of horror but at times the acting is not completely believable.
2. Yes, the film uses a range of different shot types and angles to portray the scenes and the characters.
3. The framing is mostly well done but sometimes the characters seem to be nearly off the side of the screen distracting the audience from what's actually happening.
4. The continuity is good but the lack of the 180 degree rule in the beginning shots can be disorientating as it isn't completely clear what direction the characters are moving in.
5. The setting and mise en scene fit well with the genre.
6. The sound is used well at the beginning to build tension but lacks variation throughout the video and therefore becomes dreary and boring.
2. DAWN OF THE ZOMBIE
1. The elements used in the film are concordant with the genre and set the scene well.
2. A good rage of shots at different angles and ranges.
3. rule of thirds not always abided but overall good framing.
4. Continuity and flow are good and constant.
5. The mise en scene fits well with the chosen genre.
6. The use of sound is good in creating suspense throughout the film.
