Harrison, Ryan and Sarah Title Research

In the opening titles for Dawn of the Dead we are told straight away the institution producing the film (Universal pictures) as the title sequence continues we are gradually also given the names of the directors producers and cast.

The credits are shown in-between short clips showing the lead up to the films main story, the credits are in red bold capitals then smudge like blood on  the screen.

The clips show mostly crowds of people being attacked and news bulletins up to epidemic, this show the build up of the crisis and adds emphasis to the scale of the epidemic. There are are also shots of conventions specific to the genre like blood, wide spread panic, attacks on people etc.

This title sequence has helped to give us a sense of the pacing for our own title sequence the the conventions to portray, like the lead up to epidemic, news bulletins etc. Watching this sequence has also given us ideas about how we could begin our title sequence e.g. in Dawn of the Dead the title sequence starts with a press conference with people asking question about the outbreak.
